Even though my Freshman college roommates barely prevented me from throwing my typewriter out our 4th floor window, I love your blog In Praise of Real Things. Resistance may be futile, but in our own lives we can continue to take the massive American Heritage dictionary from the shelf to look up futile. We can practice long hours to play a real instrument a hundred years old. We can cast a fly we tied with a bamboo rod a friend made for us to real trout. Thanks, Tom.

I hope I can track down one that works the next time I'm back in the states and digging through my parents' attic. In the meantime, I hop you publish more or your typewritten news and views.
